Unlawful Dissemination of an Intimate Image, Category D Felony
Title: NRS, Chapter 200, 2-6.5
Status: In effect
A person commits the crime of unlawful dissemination of an intimate image when, with the intent to harass, harm or terrorize another person, the person electronically disseminates or sells an intimate image depicting the other person and that person:
– did not give prior consent to the dissemination or sale
– had a reasonable expectation that the image would be kept private
– was at least 18 years of age when the image was created
Repercussions:
– A person who commits the crime of unlawful dissemination of an intimate image is guilty of a category D felony
– Any person who demands payment of money, property, services or anything else of value from a person in exchange for removing an intimate image from public view is guilty of a category D felony
Does not apply to: Disseminations for legitimate public interest, reporting unlawful conduct, any lawful law enforcement or correctional activity, investigations, preparations for legal proceedings.
